Stripper on my deck...

Not this kind of stripper!

So I stripped the old stain off my deck and am going to put down fresh this weekend.  It was a HUGE pain in the ass but totally worth it, the deck looks SO much better. When i fell back into a chair out in the sun soaking wet and tired, i did want to smoke, but luckily I don't have any so it only lasted for a second. Now I am looking on Oriental traders for some 4th of July supplies, a need American flag bunting and other items of USA Pride.
So right down the street (like 5 miles) from my house in the great state of North Carolina is this sign:
You are safe until you hear banjos
That in and of itself is not that big of a deal, but right past that sign is this store:
I am going to be spending a ton of $$ here this year.

They don't just sell the kiddy bottle rockets and sparklers here, SC lets you buy fireworks right up to the size where the federal government steps in to call them a weapon.

Have you ever had the joy of letting off real fireworks? Ones that go THOOM when they light and BOOOOOM when they explode!

  2. I feel your pain when it comes to dealing with the deck. The asshats that lived in my house before us painted the deck. So now every year we have to pressure wash the shit out of it to get off as much paint as possible and paint it again. It only looks "nice" for a week or so..... that is if it doesn't rain before it's completely dry.

  6. Minnesota is just a sparklers and snakes state. But South Dakota sells everything but thermite and C4. So obviously, we go there. Every road that crosses the border has a stand.

  10. Big-ass fireworks are pretty darn awesome. But they cost too much, so I'll watch the neighbours. (We have a fireman living in our street, and he always has a BUCKET OF FIRE and tons of awesome fireworks)

  11. I have to celebrate our freedom without fireworks, because the government took my right to light fireworks away.

  14. I have no idea how I have all my fingers with all the fireworks we used to set off. With little to no parental supervision. Real safe. Haha. I still love real fireworks to this day, too much fun!

  15. My BF used to drive down to another state just to buy fireworks. We had an awesome 4th of July (after clearing away a bunch of overhanging branches from his yard).

  17. Virginia has worse fireworks laws and we used to go down to NC to get them, its nice to see you guys go to SC. Here in Maryland, we go up to PA.

  18. I want to meet Mr. Fireworks himself, and shake his hand.

Even sparklers are illegal here. We have to smuggle all of our fireworks from Wyoming. Why can't we enjoy the God given right of blowing ourselves up? That's the joy of being an American. Damn you, Colorado.

  27. Oh man, when we were kids we used to set the big ones off. Probably not the best idea in a residential neighborhood...but it was fun nonetheless.

I miss the South and being able to buy ridiculous fireworks.

  30. I live here in CA... and I HATE all the regulations and rules and laws... just so lame! Not only do we have that same state law about headlight but NO FIREWORKS! argh... soooo blasted annoying. Only things I can get here are some lame wad sparkelers and different variations on the same thing... ugh. Your so lucky!
